How is a bicycle helmet actually made? Anyone who has always wanted to see it with their own eyes should mark theMay 9, 2026 in your calendar. On this Saturday we open our doors at KED in Freiberg am Neckar from 10:00 to 14:00 our doors, for you, your family and everyone who wants a look behind the scenes.

Under the motto "Transparent Production" we will show you how an idea and high-quality plastics ultimately become the helmet that accompanies you on your bike every day. There is also a supporting program where the kids get their money's worth.

Production you can touch

The focus of the day is our in-house production. You can follow the entire creation process of our helmets - from the first station to the finished product. If you want to know more: There are explanation boards at every station and our colleagues will be happy to answer your questions.

Mother's Day special: Build your own helmet

The Sunday after our open day is Mother's Day - and we have prepared something special for it. In DIY workshop can you use our model "CROM"Assemble yourself under instructions, design it individually and take it with you straight away. A gift that really comes from your own hand.

Participate, win, try it out

If you fancy a bit of competition, our interactive stations are the right place for you:

Helmet threading against the clock: who is fastest? Great prizes await the winners.

MTB balance: Standing on a mountain bike shows who has the best body control.

E-bike testing: our partner Waldbike brings a test fleet with them. You can try out the latest e-bike models directly on site.

There are also competitions with high-quality helmets as prizes.

Especially for the kids: The KED Rally

To make the tour through the factory halls an adventure for even the youngest, we have created one Children's rally imagined. The little visitors explore the production in a playful way using a questionnaire and find the answers on the explanation boards. Whoever solves everything correctly has mastered the rally.

Grilling, music, factory sales

Of course, food and music shouldn't be missing at a family celebration. We grill, create a good atmosphere – and that Factory sales opens on this day with exclusive offers. So if you've been eyeing a new helmet for a while: maybe this is the perfect occasion.
