One click. Done.

The chin strap of a bike helmet is the last thing you want to think about when setting off. The FIDLOCK® magnetic buckle makes exactly that possible: it practically snaps shut by itself – through the combination of magnetic guidance and mechanical locking. One-handed, intuitive, even with gloves.

KED uses FIDLOCK® in selected premium helmets because the technology delivers where it matters most in everyday life: putting the helmet on quickly before setting off and taking it off easily afterwards.

What does FIDLOCK® do differently?

FIDLOCK® is an independent technology brand that develops fastening systems for sports and outdoor use. The system combines two principles: a magnet automatically pulls the two halves of the buckle into the right position. The mechanical lock then makes sure the buckle really stays closed – reliably, with no accidental opening.

The result is a buckle that no longer needs to be threaded, but simply finds its way together. Once you've used it, you won't want to go back.

How does FIDLOCK® work in a helmet?

  • Magnetic guidance

When the two parts of the buckle come close, the magnet automatically pulls them into the right position. No searching, no fumbling – the buckle finds itself.

  • Mechanical locking

Safety is handled by the mechanical locking mechanism. The buckle clicks in audibly and stays closed, no matter how much the helmet is moved. Opening is just as easy: one deliberate movement is all it takes.

  • One-handed operation

FIDLOCK® was developed for situations where only one hand is free. The bike in the other hand, a child next to you, a bag on your shoulder – FIDLOCK® works in all these moments.

FIDLOCK® vs. K-LOCK

FIDLOCK® vs. K-LOCK

K-LOCK is KED's proven click buckle – reliable and used in many models. FIDLOCK® adds a magnetic guiding effect to the mechanical function. K-LOCK is the solid everyday solution, FIDLOCK® the premium option for maximum comfort.

What is the FIDLOCK® magnetic buckle?

FIDLOCK® combines magnetic guidance and mechanical locking. The buckle finds its way by itself with one hand and locks securely into place.

Is FIDLOCK® safe enough for a bike helmet?

Yes. The mechanical latch ensures that the buckle stays closed. The magnet only handles the guidance, not the securing function.

Can I operate FIDLOCK® with gloves on?

Yes. The magnet guides the parts together, so no fine motor skills are needed. That is exactly what the system was developed for.

Which KED helmets have FIDLOCK®?

Pedalon, Mitro UE-1, Mitro UE collection 25/26, Pector ME-1, Crom and Embrace Urban UF-1.

What is the difference between FIDLOCK® and K-LOCK?

K-LOCK is a classic snap buckle. FIDLOCK® adds a magnet to the mechanical function that automatically guides the buckle into position.
